Konkani Cultural Association – Manchester (KCA UK)

KCA UK was born from a small group of Mangaloreans in northwest England who, after immigrating to the United Kingdom, wanted to create a shared sense of community and belonging. What began as informal gatherings in 2004.

On 8 September 2005, KCA UK was officially established with the celebration of Monti Fest (the Harvest Festival) in Manchester. The event was marked by a Holy Mass in Konkani, followed by cultural entertainment and community activities. Since its inception, KCA UK has organised numerous events, including sports days, community picnics, and indoor social functions.

In 2007, KCA UK introduced the celebration of “Christmas Boom”, a community Christmas gathering held in Manchester. This event was well received and appreciated not only by Mangaloreans but also by members of other communities across the United Kingdom.

Over the years, KCA UK has provided a strong platform for cultural cohesion within the Konkani community through social gatherings, celebrations of significant events, and educational initiatives. It offers opportunities for individuals to develop their talents in sports, culture, and literature. KCA UK serves as a common forum for the Konkani community in the United Kingdom, helping to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen community bonds through a variety of activities.

Recognising the importance of understanding and valuing local traditions, KCA UK works closely with local community groups and actively participates in initiatives that promote education and good citizenship within the United Kingdom’s multi-racial, multi-cultural, and multi-faith society.
