In the year 2004, some of our enthusiastic Mangalorean’s from the northwest England who had then immigrated to the United Kingdom came together to form KCA. The primary objective during that time was to develop a sense of common community feeling to those who are originally hailing from ‘Kodial’ – Mangalore. And so, on 8th September 2005 KCAUK was officially formed, by celebrating Monti-Fest (the Harvest Festival) in Manchester. This has been done with holy mass in Konkani followed by entertainment in the form of cultural activities.
Since then, KCAUK celebrates this festival every year with the traditions and culture of our homeland. We then went on to meet regularly by organising annual picnics and indoor activities for children. In 2007 we organised our 1st Christmas Party. The Christmas Boom (as we called it), was a huge success among children and adults. Looking ahead, like true Britons, we are trying to increase the awareness of our heritage and bring in cultural cohesion. KCAUK is currently working closely and getting involved with local community groups to provide education concerning good citizenship in a multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-faith society of the United Kingdom.
Our Objectives:
KCAUK shall provide a platform for cultural cohesion for the Konkani community through social gatherings, celebrating special events and education. Provide an opportunity for developing talent, in the field of sports, culture and literature. KCAUK shall provide a common forum for the Konkani community in the United Kingdom to foster cultural links and heritage through various activities. On matters of common interest, KCAUK shall promote understanding and cooperation amongst various Konkani speaking communities in the United Kingdom.
