UK, July 27th 2009: KCAUK had organized it’s annual picnic to Keswick in Cumbria –“The Lake District” on 25th July 2009. Mr. Santosh Pinto the president of KCA welcomed the group of 15 families in Manchester where the spirit of the picnic began. The journey started at 08:40 am followed by the prayer led by Mrs. Renny Buthello. The favouring weather boosted the picnic moods of the families. Breakfast was served by Mrs. Marina Sequeira and Mrs.Reena Ridrigues which kept the spirit and the enthusiasm of the picnic ongoing.
KCAUK had this picnic well planned. The location was visited by Mr. Raj Francis Pereira much before the picnic day was planned. The proposed study and planning done then had created a lot of interest for the group to visit this place.
Keswick is situated between the huge bulk of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater. It has become the major centre for tourism in the north lakes. This pretty market town offer a wide range of attractions for visitors, from shops and restaurants to museums with a difference, and boating trips around lake Derwentwater.
The enthusiastic families reached Keswick at 11:00 am. The day’s activity was split into two parts. The first part was to get familiarized with the new location and the second by organizing some games, music and dance. As the families were trying to relax after a journey of two hours and enjoying the scenic beauty of Keswick, KCA team members placed the marquee in the camping area. This gave a common point to meet for the families visiting other places. Mrs. Renny Buthello who had prepared the delicious food for the entire group served it to the families with the help of Mrs. Diana Lobo. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal.
The second part of the day began with various games for the adults and the children conducted by Mr. Santosh Pinto, Mr. Ronald Lobo, Mr. Stany Rodrigues, Mr. Ravi Pinto. One prize per game was planned by the KCA Team. The games attracted a lot of other audiences near the camping area. The following won the prizes.
Master Merwin of Cambridge for the spoon and the egg.
Mrs. Charlotte Barboza of Manchester for the spoon and the egg.
Mrs. Anthony Mary Rodrigues of Manchester for eating the hanging apple.
Mr. Alwyn Buthello and Mr. Ivan Castalino of Manchester for catching the egg.
Mr. Cyril Pinto of Warrington for placing the chilli in the hole.
As soon as the games in the above category concluded the group was split into two teams who then played “The dog and the bone” and the popular Mangalorean rural game “Lagori”. A few families enjoyed the boat riding with the kids with the help of Mr. Stany Rodrigues and Mr.Cyril Pinto.
The entire group moved from the camping area to the nearby garden where the prize distribution took place. Mr.Dominic Leo Pereira was the adjudicator for the games. Mr. Alwyn Buthello and Mrs. Gracy Pinto distributed the prizes for the winners.
Mr. Santosh Pinto conveyed the vote of thanks. He thanked everyone for their active participations and also the sponsors Mr. Alwyn Buthello and family for the lunch, Mr.Ravi Pinto and Family, Mr. Ronald Lobo and Family, Mr. Vinod Barboza and Family and Mr. Raj Francis Pereira and family towards all the other aspects of this picnic.
The group enjoyed singing Konkani Songs and dancing to the melodious music led by Mr. Sujith Rodrigues. The charming day further continued with the return journey at 6:00pm where everyone continued their singing in the bus, later cracking jokes and conversations. The entire day was enjoyed in peace and harmony far away from the daily routine activities. It was just an other fantastic day which everyone will surely remember.
