'Love in the Air' - KCA UK Valentine's Day
Love and laughter filled the air as St. Mary’s Community Centre came alive on the 10th of February 2024, playing host to the annual Valentine's Day bash by the Konkani Cultural Association – UK (KCA UK). The evening kicked off at 7pm with a warm welcome from our hosts Riana Lobo, Sinol Mendonca, and Sonal Mendonca, setting the stage for a memorable celebration.
Amidst the twinkling lights and warm ambiance, President Sujith Rodrigues extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, inviting them to partake in the festivities and embrace the spirit of love.
Adding to the this, committee members, Sujith Rodrigues, Sonal Mendonca, Santhosh Pinto, Rony Lobo, and Marina Monis came together to light the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the start of the 20-year jubilee and unity within the KCA UK community. A momentous occasion ensued with the unveiling of the new KCA jubilee webpage, accompanied by the release of heartfelt messages from current and former presidents, reflecting on the journey of KCA UK and the cherished memories shared over the years.
Love was truly in the spotlight as couples showcased their dance moves to romantic melodies, competing in a lively game that brought laughter and joy to all. The fun continued with the 'Love Goggles' game, as men attempted to guess their partners while wearing amusing goggles, drawing out giggles and cheers from the crowd.
Mesmerizing dance performances by the trio Richelle, Raizel, Sarah, and the Mendonca sister's duo captivated the audience, infusing the night with grace and elegance. Rodney and Joel kept the energy high with entertaining games, engaging young children and teens in friendly competition and camaraderie. Songs were beautifully sung by the lovely couple Roylet and Kiran, a solo by Wilson Coelho, and a duet by Santosh Pinto and Charlotte Barboza. Coelho Clicks were on hand to capture each moment on camera. A family package; Dan Murthy entertained all with his songs, while his daughter Sofia did a beautiful dance performance.
The meal included Chinese noodles and other Indian dishes. As the evening drew to a close, Mary Anthony Rodrigues delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their presence and participation, and acknowledging the dedication of the KCA UK team in making the event a resounding success. The night ended on a high note with a guided dance by Sonal Mendonca, where guests swayed and twirled in a unique formation using drinks glasses, culminating in an open dance floor where love and joy abounded, creating lasting memories for all who attended.
With love and laughter as the backdrop, the Valentine's Day bash was a testament to the strong bonds and cherished moments shared within the KCA UK family, reminding us all of the power of love to unite and uplift our spirits.
