KCA UK leaders meet High Commissioner of India to UK His Excellency Mr Vikram Doraiswami - Report by Sujith Rodrigues
High commissioner of India His Excellency Mr. Vikram Doraiswami visits Manchester in his first landmark trip to the City on Saturday 14th January. On the occasion of his visit the consular General of Birmingham Dr.Shashank Vikram Organised a community interactive meeting in Stanley Suite, Midland Manchester hotel where he invited leaders of few leading Indian associations of Manchester to introduce the association to the high commissioner & present the motto of the organisation. KCA UK was honoured to be part of this event to meet the high commissioner of India mission in UK along with the Consular General of Birmingham & host of other dignitaries & parliamentarians from the city
The meeting was represented by over 15 leaders from leading associations who predominantly serve Indian diaspora out of Manchester. KCA UK president Mrs Marina Monis & Vice president Mr Sujith Rodrigues had a special audience with His excellency Mr Vikram Doraiswami & shared profile of association along with some of the pressing needs of our Konkani community in UK.
In the round table discussion high commissioner specially called on all the leaders to highlight the issues that are of greater significance to Indian communities in Manchester & where it needs urgent attention from the Indian mission. Some of the issues including Visa, Embassy office, VFS, Indian students’ welfare, religious harmony, Art & culture but not limited to below were discussed in the meeting.

- Welfare of the Indian students & the crisis on accommodation

- Promoting Indian Art & Culture
- Welfare of the Indian health workers in NHS Northwest

Meeting was represented by the Labour Member of Parliament for Stockport Navendu Mishra, Local councillors Mr Irfan Syed, Mr Vimal Choks & a legendary cricketer Mr. Farooq engineer
It was pleasure meeting the Indian diplomats & discuss at great lengths the issues benefiting Konkani community in Manchester. More such community interactive meetings to follow in the months to come in Manchester.
